Breton drinks

Brittany is equally well-known for its drinks, including beer, cider, chouchenn and lambig.

You can often visit the places where these drinks are produced - ask us for details.

  •   Beer

There are 15 or more Breton beers, including some that are well-known like Coreffe. These beers are unusual in that they are traditionally brewed.

  •   Cider:

The great pride and passion of the Breton people, our cider is an exceptional product, made from apples and mixed with brandy. There are two sorts of cider: sweet and dry. Cider is most often drunk with a meal of crêpes and galettes, usually from small earthenware bowls. Many of our local cider makers open their doors to the public and offer direct sale on-site.

  • Chouchenn :

This is an alcoholic drink made from honey. The alcohol level varies but is usually no higher than 20 percent.

  • Lambig (Calvados):

Lambig is a spirit made from cider, also known as ‘Calvados' and is quite a strong alcoholic drink.

This is just a selection of the many drinks made by local producers.
